Connecting and troubleshooting Google Calendar
Use Events to connect a Google Calendar account when the sync control is available to you. Our Stairwell creates an Our Stairwell calendar in that Google account and sends community events to it.
Connect your calendar
- Open Events and choose Sync to Google Calendar.
- Read the explanation, then choose Connect Google Account.
- Select the intended Google account and complete the permission flow.
- Return to Our Stairwell and check the connection status.
- In Google Calendar, check that the Our Stairwell calendar is visible.
The connection is one-way: new, updated and deleted events are sent from Our Stairwell to Google Calendar. Events in your personal Google Calendar are not imported into Our Stairwell. Make changes to shared events in Our Stairwell.
An event is missing or out of date
- Check the original event in Our Stairwell and confirm its date.
- Check that you are viewing the intended Google account and that its Our Stairwell calendar is visible.
- Check the sync status in Events. Syncing... means work is still in progress.
- If Sync needs attention remains, note the message and contact support with the event title and approximate time of the problem.
Do not create duplicate events to compensate for a sync problem. Connecting Google under Profile > Security is a sign-in setting and does not establish calendar sync.
Disconnect
Open the disconnect control beside the linked-calendar status. The confirmation offers:
- Keep Events: disconnect and keep the existing calendar events in Google.
- Remove Events: request removal of the Our Stairwell calendar and its events from Google while disconnecting.
- Cancel: leave the connection in place.
Kept events will no longer receive updates through the disconnected connection. Disconnecting does not delete the source events in Our Stairwell.
Calendar removal did not complete
If disconnect cleanup fails, the status offers Retry or Disconnect Anyway. Retry asks the app to complete the cleanup. Disconnect Anyway finishes disconnecting, but the calendar and events may remain in Google; read the confirmation before choosing it.
